I have a US Robotics 56k ISA Hardware modem. But it is only 8bit (takes up first part of ISA slot). I also have other modems, which are 16bit (take up the full ISA slot). Does this even make a difference when it comes to modems? I figure it doesn't, since PCI is 32bit, but most ISA modems are still better. And I've only seen US Robotics modems that use 8bit, and not 16bit, and these modems are considered the best. Any Webpage explaining this would be great. Please let me know what you think, thanks.

i dont know sh*t about if it really matters but your 8bit isa port is probably alot faster than your phone line so...

Well, most of the time on my 33.6k modem it doesnt hit full speed on the internet. Bandwidth is usually quite limited here in the UK, so I would just have even more wasted bandwidth on a 56k.
If your modem is going fast enough in an 8 bit ISA slot, then what is the need for a 16 bit one? Personally, I found an ISA modem and soundcard were perfectly adequate, and would rather leave PCI slots for SCSI adapters, graphics cards, etc.

Maybe www.56k.com (http://www.56k.com) would have a suitable explanation for you.
