Under the bios screen, I've set the cpu voltage to 1.85, and when I goto the PC Hardware Monitor its only reporting 1.71v....
...um, something's not right here.
I've taken the suggestion and placed a heatsink/fan onto the mobo's clock generator, but to no avail.
I'm coming to think that there's something wrong with the mobo and that I can't get 1.85v out of it.
Would a bios upgrade 1004 or degrade 1002 help???
I know its not the cpu itself 'cause I've gotten the cpu to 900mhz on my old BE6 before.
The cpu doesn't boot or post @ 900mhz may be due to the fact that its not getting enough voltage pumped thru it. Well, that's what I'm assuming anyways.
Anybody know the links to the beta 1004 bios drivers?
Any help is greatly appreciated http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Here is a link Plucky and it has lots of good info as well. http://www.netspace.net.au/~jesse/p3v4x/main.html
Do the temps rise when you increase the voltage...if so then it is increasing. I also said in an earlier post to keep pressing the reset button for a while and it will most likely post. I have noticed it will post at 900 with the ram at 1/1 but when it is at 4/3 I have to keep pressing but it seems to get better with time. Good luck http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks for the link Brydon http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
I've flashed the mobo to the latest 1004.02 bios.
What I've noticed is that once I've booted into Windows with the *Load Defaults* option right after a fresh flash, I can reboot and set the cpu to run @ 146mhz FSB @ 1.85v. The Phantom FSB is halfway gone, still can't get 148+FSB speeds. With the old Rev 1003 bios I can't overclock. Highest I've reached is 876mhz....900 still no go yet, needs better cooling.
What's different with the new bios and and old bios is that when I set the Vcore voltage to 1.85v, it mobo actually sets it to 1.85v. With the old bios, no matter what I set the Vcore to the mobo always keeps the cpu @ 1.65v-1.7v, strange eh?
Anyways, @ 146mhz FSB and 1.85v, the cpu temperature is reportedly @62*c/139*F
Yaowee that's hot! ****, and I thought these Cumine babies were chilly.
Can anyone recommend me some good SECC2 cooling solutions besides peltiers? Peltiers are known to crack the internal cpu core, which is not visible to the human eye, so I don't wanna take any risks...
The CPU heatsink is hot and I get system crashes. The cpu will not boot @ 144+ FSB speeds @ 1.8v
And yes, I've got a socket7-sized heatsink/fan installed onto the clock generator http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Any help or suggestion is welcome http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

All I can suggest is a vos32 cooler as I have mine running at 900@150x6 1.85v (4/3 ram) and under full load it is at 48*c but I reckon it will go cooler but I am having problems getting the heatsink to sit level on the cpu. I have noticed the I/O voltage is at 3.5v normal and if you use the undocumented jumper under the top right fan header you can raise it to 3.6v but in the bios that showed as 3.65 which was just to much for my liking seeing as it should be 3.3 for the ram anyway. The increase in I/O voltage might do the trick for ya Plucky so if you try it let me know http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. I know I have said it before but when it does not boot at 150fsb keep pressing the reset button as I get it to boot that way and sometimes have to do it up to 10 times though as time goes on it seems to be getting better http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif.

Well, I've added a 3" case fan blowing cool air directly onto the CPU, that seems to help stabilize the CPU temperature @ 51*C.
Can load windows @ 864mhz @ 1.8v
Running some stability test right now.
I just used thermal grease and superglue to stick that baby heatsink onto the clock generator.
900mhz now boots partially into windows http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
I'm getting closer, but still no cigar.
Will try again...I'll be back http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Brydon, where's that I/O voltage dip switch you say was again? Is it the one right below the fan header that's closest beside the CPU?
Just checked, the dip switch is inserted into the left-middle section. What's the voltage on that setting?
If I moved it over to middle-right, what voltage would that be also?
What exactly does this I/O voltage control? Ram?
I never had an I/O option with any of my other Abit mobos so you gotta bear with me here please http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

THe default is 3.5v and u changed it to 3.6v.
I guess it changes whatever takes 3.3volts to 3.6!

It gives more voltage to the ram and the agp port etc. Basicaly anything that is on the mobo that uses the 3.3v (3.5v default on P3V4X) will now get 3.6v which can help with stability problems when overclocking and also the i/o voltage of the cpu is now higher as well so it generates more heat but I think this is why my temps are hotter on this mobo than on my old one as it only gave 3.3v i/o voltage.

Ive got screwy things happening with mine now, (STEP6@800 P3V4X PC150, board reset to default settings) 3D Mark2k demo wont run at all, set Voodoo 3000 w/2 fan setup back to non OC status, also SB 128 soundcard at startup fires up at MAX volume and wont load Midi drivers--(nagbox at startup, using newest driver), using Win mediaplayer beta plays MP3's fine, not sure whats happening, havnt updated Bios yet, that clock gen is a hot little puppy, working on that this afternoon, hey Plucky how the heck didya fit a S7 heatsink in there and what did ya mount it with? thanks guys... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
UPDATE---> Downloaded 3Dmark from a different location, appears to be making it thru default benchmark now (just finished 2998 @ default 800)
also ran sfc found about 10 corruptions from new install of 98se
re-installed Audio drivers, works now (how do I get rid of this "no-midi" nagbox that stops the bootup?)
easily mounted a fan over the clock gen utilizing an extra m/b mount, guess ill mount the sink manana, things are looking better at least... http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
