I thought I had all the bugs worked out
of my new system, but I've just noticed
that if I work the TNT2 card hard for
30-40 minutes or so, the system will
lock up. I have a BX Master mobo, P3-550
running at 733 Mhz, Guillemot Xentor 32
(TNT2) and a nice slot cooling fan right
under the TNT2. (the TNT2 has it's own
little cooling fan, too)

I'm running the latest Detonator drivers;
they solved a lot of game issues I had,
and they seemed to improve the stability
greatly. I just hadn't been using it
long enough to hit this new problem.

I thought I had the cooling issues covered.
The sytem temp. is 35-37(C) when I
reboot from a lock-up - not exactly
blazing...

Does anyone think I have a heat problem
here, or should I look elsewhere?

Any suggestions appreciated.

.5 volts might be a little too much. I think general guidance is to try to avoid raising the vcore more than 10%. Help me out if I'm all 8-up.

I think it was a typo as he knows his stuff...I recon he meant 0.05v but well spotted anyway.

The CPU voltage is set to 1.70. The mobo can
go from 1.65 to 2.4 in 0.05 increments.
(that must have been what he meant, right?)

Anybody think I should try 1.75?

Several issues could cause this, but is sounds more like a cpu problem. Are you renning the cpu at defualt voltage? If so, you might have to apply an extra .5v to gain system stablity. Also, how is your cpu temp? I assume since you have good case cooling that your cpu is cool as well.

Good question, it's been awhile since I
set up the CPU o/c. I'm not in front of
the system right now, so I'll have to
check on that one and report back.

Thanks,

Scott

Tried 1.75v, but that doesn't seem to
help. Instead of a lock-up, I get a
reset now. Normal operation is still
stable, but 20-30 minutes of Q3A and
I get a free reboot and disk check. ;-)

Any other suggestions?

Someone suggested
checking that the CPU is cooling well.
The temp. sensor is on the mobo and the
CPU is on a slotket, so I guess I better
make sure that it's cool enough.
