I got some digital speakers today( http://www.neoseeker.com/Hardware/Audio/Speakers/Surround_Sound_Systems/dtt2500_reviews.html ), thinking my SBlive Value had a digital output, considering i just bought it about 6 months ago....wrong. it sure doesnt...how else could i get the digital hooked up short of buying a dvd decoder card (which i dont want to do) or a newer version of the sblive?

It's a little pricy though, and it takes up another slot. It might be a better idea to pick up another sblive value, and make sure it's digital. The difference in going from analog to digital isn't that great, though there is a difference. (I have sblive x-gamer & dtt2500's) But going from digital back to analog is interesting...everything just sounds a little wrong. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
I couldn't justify replaceing a perfectly good card just for the digital.

if you are really handy with a soldering iron and don;t mind risking your card you could always solder the proper connections in the proper places

How long ago did they add the digital output to the card? or maybe the sound blaster value doesnt have one...I just dont want to buy another card and a bunch of games im not going to use in the gamer model...sigh
maybe ill just live with analog.... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
I'm not exactly sure when they added the digital out...it was sometime shortly after the x-gamer/mp3+/platinum release. They do have values with digital outs though.
My Value! that I bought about 2 months ago, has a Digital-Out on it. OEM Version from www.mwave.com (http://www.mwave.com)

Dang. So it must have been recent. If anyone can jump here and help me with a SBLive related question, I would appreciate it also: http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum9/HTML/000852.html
My SBlive has it chipbgt. Perhaps its because I got the mp3+ I dont know, I bought it around Oct-Nov time. It came with a adapter to slide in the tower slot and also a jack on the actual card. So I got two ways I could hook it up. If your pos it does'nt have it I guess it's trade in time.

Just bought the SB Live Value 3 weeks ago... 1st connection on the card is digital output.
I thought they were made that way from the start.

The first SBlives values did not have digital output, now they do,in fact the only differnce between the values and the gamer and MP3 editions are that the value does not have any extra software with it.......also the gamer and MP3 have goldplated outputs, giving(supposedly)better audio output.

Well, I broke down and bought the platinum card with the nifty live wire deal. got it to work on win2k even (my tv card now has surround sound like it was always supposed to) and the digital playback on the dvd is much more clearer. it was very much worth it.

What do you mean you got it to work in Win2K? Did you get the proper drivers and creative programs installed?

Yeah, I guess I should explain that better...The dell beta drivers worked before (except for the one file that was corrupted, which caused an anooying error when I rebooted). The error is mysteriously gone now after installing the 98 drivers under windows 98. Also, my wintv card that used to run off the old SBLive card would not use the surround sound speakers (DTT2500's, whoohoo!) now, they work fine. So its still not perfect (no dvd playability in win2k) and the live drive gives me troubles in win2k..but....its better than before.

The OEM versions of the sblive have the digital out.. the retail do not. If you buy the creative soundworks digital speakers, they come with a hookup card that includes digital out for your sblive value. A buddy of mine just did this a week ago. Works great!

hmmm...mine didnt have one, at least i never saw one....but now I have another question, whenever i play a dvd the digital light doesnt show up, so I dont think im even getting the true quality out of these thigns...sheesh. i definitly need to reformat and start fresh when the win2000 drivers come out.
