What are some of the things you all did when you were just young skulls full of mush? I deserved every whuppin' I received . . . plus the ones for when I didn't get caught. As my dad often reminded my brother and I, we didn't invent any new mishief. Though I doubt he ever made hydrogen (good ole hydrogen generators) to create very loud explosions!

Ps: At least my dad took responsibilty for teaching us the difference between right and wrong (when he caught us.) And he instilled some great values, like the love of books and the value of education.

I never did any of that crazy s*** when I was young; and it wasn't out of fear, either.
I'm not saying I was any knd of angel but, with the way kids are today, I probably would have been considered one! I simply had RESPECT for other people and they're property. I wouldn't even think of talking to a teacher, or any adult, the way kids do today...

Brangwen, you're the only other person I've heard of making "H". I was making Hydrogen, Acetylene and Black Powder before I was twelve. I've reloaded shotgun shells with everything you can imagine. A steel 30cal Mauser bullet will penetrate two inches of green oak.. The neighbor kids were cruel to animals, I had to euthanize abandoned animals at an early age so torture made me sick.. My folks would punish you for weeks and months.. I got it real bad from my mom for talking on the phone for an hour straight and she couldn't get through and drove home to whip me(12 yrs old) I avoided getting CAUGHT doing stuff they didn't like..which was most anything,especially by todays standards..Just tone of voice or yes wthout the sir or maaam attached, forbid saying YEAH,, uh-oh!! A tomboy I was growing up and did lot's of things that my Dad didn't know about and never heard about. I was really just following my brother around, but we did some bad things - never to people but to their property on occassions.

Spankings happened very rarely, and instead it was my fathers disappointment in us that made us realize the wrongs we had done.
