The telephone company and Internet portion of the same company at Swbell have strained relations at best. There is almost zero communication, with each side pointing fingers at the other when the rather convoluted process of hooking up a dsl subscriber fails. I wish an independent company like Flashcom could have license to the telephone lines, I think they would make a better go at the whole process than the telephone company, and but the wait time down as well. chipbgt 03-17-2000, 01:24 PM Thats a great story, she handled it with much more patience and grace than I would have. jad1097 03-17-2000, 01:50 PM Oh yes cable fraud is a crime and they can charge/fine you big time plus but you in jail. My inlaws had got poped for it but they played it off very well and just ended up paying for the service, to avoid fines and etc... They had it installed many years ago and then they cancelled it and they never came out and disconected them, not their fault. So they had free cable for over ten years. hydraulic 03-17-2000, 07:32 PM I read the same story a couple of months ago and it was told about a man not a women so somebody is trying to pull the wool over our eyes, like the saying goes don't believe every thing you read. johnpaul 03-18-2000, 12:12 AM What a great piece! I'm going to post it over at No Wonder. She is fortunate to be an intelligent, articulate person (not to mention level-headed). I'm not sure I would have had the patience or the organizational skills needed to map it all out. Richard_Cranium72 03-18-2000, 06:23 PM This person was charged with "Theft of Services" A lot of Cable TV companies wait for a two year period to make the case worthwhile to pursue. Some states allow up to three times the amount of stolen services as reparations. But,, if the case is represented correctly this person has nothing to worry about in a trial. He/She made "ordinary usage" of the cable service. They did no attachments or special de-coders to get the service. Then under no requirement of themselves made an attempt to rectify the siutation. Subsequent notifications were of no legal requirement either.. IMO !! The malicious prosecution thing is the only way Comcast Cable will hire competent employees who care.. IMO.. We have Comcast here and they don't offer dsl or even have payment by checking debit either. Even our local Govt. is on auto-draft for the water bill.. Mistakes happen, complacent and indifferent services that result in this level of stress definitely warrant futher investigation.. DrVette SysOpt.com
