Hello,

rar files? Sort of packed files? How I can open rar files?

yes, they are a sort of packed-file file-type. they are kind of like zip files, but they can compress your files further.

you can open them up with something like WinZip (or really any other proggie that opens zip files), but i'd reccomend getting WinRar or the like... they are made specifically for rar files, and they work much better...

hope i could help you better understand what rar files are...

p.s.-
i'm sure someone will be along shortly that can better describe what a rar file is...

In windows you can use a few programs, such as winrar, and winace

Yes it will. IMO it works way better than WinZip. I think it is also faster at compressing files. It will also open zip,tar, gz,ace, etc..
