I just activated my 6MB website that Earthlink offers as a member benefit, I have already made a website using Word 2000 and I wanted to upload it onto my website: http://www.earthlink.net/~jadison

Now I've never used FTP 2 do this with, I even have a utility called WS-FTP95, that Earthlink recommend I use to upload files 2 my website. I've already consulted there help file, it doesn't help!

How do I put the website I've made onto this site!

You need to know the ip address or the ftp server name. Once you connect, their may be a username and password you need to enter. Then you could rename the default index.html they likely put their for you and rename your newly uploaded file to that. Everything should then work I think. Have you tried calling them on the tele?

Just for info purposes, if you keep FTPing your stuff up, or perhaps start using FTP for anytihng else, give FlashFXP a try (get it at www.shareware.com). (http://www.shareware.com).) It's about the best FTP client I've used...

I have found the best FTP client I have used is BulletProof FTP (http://www.mntsnow.com/downloads/bpftp115.exe). It's fast, efficent and feature rich! It has a free trial period and then if you choose to keep it is very reasonably priced http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Enjoy

I tried bulletproof and it worked very well for downloading a few files from ftp sites. I really like the feature that lets you set it to download from several different ftp sites on its own while you are away. The only problem I found, and it probably won't affect many people, is that it chokes when you try to ftp alot (several thousand) of files at once. We use ftp at school to move files back and forth between the unix based machines and pc's. We routinely move tens of thousands of small files back and forth on the lan. WS-FTP seems to handle this large quantity better than bulletproof, but I prefer bulletproof's interface.

That's precisely the problem I had with bulletproof. FlashFXP is very easy to use, has a very small footprint and handles large d/l queues very well. You can do two FTPs at once in one FlashFXP window, but for more than that at once I just open up more copies. The small footprint makes it very easy to do so and keeps it pretty stable.

Bdog, You are correct in the LARGE downloads from a SINGLE place I actually use the pay version of WS-FTP Explorer as it handles the very large queues very well but for "normal" ftp'ing I love BulletProof http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Until I get my site up and running with Earthlink, I made a site using www.angelfire.com (http://www.angelfire.com) website maker. It's free and easy and since I already had a Lycos Passport from a year ago I just used that to activate my directory and website. I only spent 10 minutes on it but u can visit it if u like: http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/ntechcomp/

I'm tryin to compete with Scotter's website. hehe

I've visited many webpages that have screenshots of programs, in this case, Scotter has a page that has a picture of his Benchmarking results. What do I do to take a screenshot of a program??

Good Luck with your website SoCalGal, r u fluent in HTML or a novice @ it? I admit I used to be really good at it, but it's been about 2 1/2 years since I used it (I used to use Dida HTML editor) I have forgotten most of it!

Thanks jadison http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I'm pretty much a newbie there http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif I've been playing with that Evrsoft program and that seems to be pretty straight forward ... but, so many different things to learn/do and so little time!

With regard to FTP software there can only be one number one: Internet Neighbourhood from Knoware.

Nothing else comes close, you won't believe it until you try it! 'nuff said, go try it (that is an order http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif): http://www.knoware.com/ .
