I've bought a recharging device for battaries. in instruction I found that it recharges battaries UM3, UM4, UM5 type. What does it mean? How does it reffer to AA and AAA type of battaries? Maybe someone knows an url where I can read about it.
Thanks

Just different standards. Same batteries. The IEC is the international standard, ANSI id American and the JIS is Japanese.
The figures goes like this:
(IEC: R03) = (ANSI: AAA)
(IEC: R6) = (ANSI: AA) = (JIS: UM3)
(IEC: R14) = (ANSI: C) = (JIS: UM2)
(IEC: R20) = (ANSI: D) = (JIS: UM1)
For LR types (Alkaline) the JIS goes like: AM1, AM2, ...
