even tho some might now care ect. I thought I would toot my own horn. I had "myself/my company" Gene's Custom PC Service" applied with mocrosoft corp. to become a certified oem system builder and software installer. for microsoft corp. I filed all data info they needed to process my company with them. got a e-mail from them comfirming my info and a microsoft phone number to call. I called them and gave them some more info ect. and bang. I'm in. what dose this do for me. I can now access the private parts of there info data base. free training tests with a certificate of passing them all. ability to buy and sell oem products and software for new and used builds and give my customers discounts on there products. ect. so if you have a system company and can produce the proper info. you should see if they can determer if you are accetable to the program. there is a world of advantages to the program. I just named a few.

Hi gene c I would have thought you would have jioned long ago, don't forget the OEM BBS for help with MS bugs etc, they are qite handy, though some times it can be a bit like the Chopper pilot who is lost in Seatle, and get the correct info, but totally usless at the time, watch out for the free offers, and NFR's they can be very handy when you need to keep up to date, if you had to buy retail you would never install new OS's on the systems you biuld,
It's an extreamly handy club to be in. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Yeah! Any classes required? I'm building someone a system, and I don't wanna pay 180 bucks for full version of win9- i assume oem's get cheap rates....

I will say you get better deals on software than you will at retail BUT you have to buy them in MULTI-PACKS http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Also you MUST buy so much software each quarter to remain a member.

ps. I will also say this Microsoft will come down HARD on people that get busted breaking the software laws! In the last 6 months or so Microsoft has put 4 places out of business and bankrupted them for software fraud and that is just here in Salt Lake. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Richamies, I don't know how you've done it with never buying any software.....Do you get the weekly newsletters and all? Do you still have an active account? Sheeze If I could get away with not buying stuff I would be set http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Apostle...Yes you will need to have a business license from your area to help get you registered...Then you will need to apply and get a TAX Resale license from your Local and State governments..Then get setup with one of about 10 National wholesalers that work with OEM systems builders to buy the software from. (This is one of the hardest things to do and there is different pricing levels depending on the amount of business you do with them)

as far as the business assepct. I just gave them my what they ask for. I have been in business since 1/9/89. I have all the legel recommended doc. ect. required by the city, county, state, u.s. gov."irs", and dept. of revenue. I'm not trying to be smart. I just don't put my personal businees afaires out on the web. and also, each city, county, state is different. except for the gov. requirements.
