If you're clicking "cancel" it will keep coming back. If you have no password and only one user, leave password blank and click "OK" It shouldn't come back now. Good Luck

How wierd. Kim Komando is talking about this very issue right now. But she's saying you should first del the .PWL file and then restart Windows and hit CANCEL when the password dialog box comes up.

But like most the other radio computer shows, she's probably wrong (but **** she's good looking (http://www.komando.com/)).

I still say use the Microsoft TweakUI app.

The easiest way is what I discribed down in the OS forum.

yes... definitely do what Mntsnow said to do here (http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum9/HTML/000853.html) in the OS forum...

it is BY FAR the easiest way to do it (if you have only 1 user, which i am assuming)...

there are many more ways to do this (of which i know 3 or 4), but i'd say that this is the best and easiest... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Please, How in blazes can I get ride of the Ding Dang Password notification screen during Win98 bootup? I have had this screen pop up every time I do a OS reinstall, and if ignored, will go away after awhile if you keep clicking cancel.
Not this time!! It's been hanging around for
a WEEK!
Please Help! Post a message or Email me...

If you have a NIC installed you can't get rid of it.

You could always just install TweakUI. It'll automatically fill in ID & PW essentially bypassing that dialong box for you.

Alright, I tried what Mntsnow sugested, changed my primary network login to family login...Still have the password screen no matter if I click on close screen or cancel
after umteen reboots!
I'm not sure what ouTpaTianT meant by an NIC if by that is meant a network card? I have none. I may try removing the PWL file if I know where to find it?
any other suggestions?? (please) & Thanks

P.S. No need to visit the OS post as I have been busted for double posting! (I didn't realize it was forbiden), makes sense tho! Shame on me! Sorry Mr Moderator, it won't happen again!! :-)

Yes, you need to delete the .PWL file. It should be in your Windows folder, or maybe in the Windows/system folder...just do a FIND and search for *.pwl...then delete it.
