i am using win 95 4.00.950c and ie5. i enter a page into favorites, get ok then on recall nothing is displayed. if i reenter i get file is already there do iwant to overwrite. also today ihad to manually enter name and password here. could it be a cookies problem, could the 2 be related ? barry just made a new post and the user name was autocompleted as usual. barry
thanks for the help you fixed it barry

Make sure your favorites folder is not set to Read only in its properties.

i finally figured out how to get to propertys. the only thing checked is system and its greyed out. i tried the other options one at a time and then all combos no change in results. also still losing user name recognition after shut down. thanks barry

Barry
For the cookie thing, go to tools/internet options, click the security tab and if the default leval button is not "greyed out", click it. Then go to the top of this web page to "preferences" and choose the option for "allow your user name and password to be stored for one year". You will have to re-enter your name and password your next post, but after that it should do it by it'self.
As for the favorite thing, I don't know what you mean by "recall". Can you see links in the favorite folder, or in the favorite menu?

Maybe it's a longshot, but have you tried to repair I/E5? Control Panel/Add&Remove Programs/Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 and Tools. Click "Add/Remove" and you'll get a box with the option of repairing I/E5. It's worth a try.

If you use Windows explorer, and go to
C/Windows/Favorites, can you see folders and links in there?
The main folder should only have a greyed out check in the "system" box, all the sub-folders should have no attributes selected.
