I am resigned to using my nice AGP card as the secondary video in my multiple monitor setup (see "multiple monitors" under the Windows 98 help icon in the Start Bar). However, what I really want is to be able to run my sims on the AGP driven monitor - the secondary. And the games seem to want to start on the slower primary PCI driven monitor. It so happens that in tinkering with some other settings and adding the Game Commander demo I had my two sims starting on the secondary AGP monitor. I defragmented my drive, or something, and this ability went away.

So I know that you can run the sims on the secondary monitor. I am not interested, especially, in running my sims on both monitors. Just one. How do you do it?

the first thing i would look for is the option in your mobo's bios to have the agp as the defalt moniter if it does not give you that option check your mobo's web site for a updated bios that gives you that option

the othere thing you can do is to go into the grafx options for those games and see if they let you pick the card and or drivers to use

othere than that those are the only 2 things i know of for the dual moniter set up
hope it helps /forum/smile.gif

At this site at the home page there are guides that include some pages on the BIOS. They say that there are potentially commands that are hidden from the casual user. I wonder if this may be the case for choosing the Primary monitor in my BIOS. I have also considered the possibility that a BIOS upgrade may solve the problem. The Amptron site doesn't spell this out and it cautions against upgrading the BIOS unless you actually having functional problems.

But remember what I said about the sims spontaneously starting up in the secondary? This means that it must be possible to control this. This is all I am really interested in. I can live with my AGP monitor being secondary if I have to.

Anyone else?

try getting in touch with amptrons tech support and see what they say about the bios a newer bioes can realy make a lot of changes to your system and most all of them or worth while as far as added support for newer stuff /forum/smile.gif
I upgrade mine every time a newer version comes out. they put that disclamer there couse IF you do it wrong your board is toast
and your going to need to find some one or send it to them to fix it, and they dont want to be responsable for sugjesting you upgrade unless you realy have to /forum/smile.gif

I'll check it out.

Anybody have a software solution? Or how about a pre-existing solution?

It turns out that the games are still starting up in the AGP monitor. It is just the startup part of the sims that is using the primary monitor. When the cockpit starts up in both F-15 and Falcon 4, it is in the AGP monitor. Anybody have any idea what the heck is going on? In any case, I'm happy with the way things are working with sims, anyway.
