hey all!

i'm a bit confused about this. i went to www.buy.com and looked at their 17 inch selection and there, saw that, for example, a Nokia 17" (15.8" viewable), .25mm dp with USB ports on the side for $311. That cheap yet I saw some similar with more dp for higher price.

So, what exactly is the dot pitch, how does it affect the monitor and what is better, lower or higher?

thanks!

Lower is better..

i.e. .22mm better..... .28mm not as good

It basically tells you the size of each dot on the screen- smaller dots => more dots per inch in "printer talk."

ok, but then you see stuff like ".22 (horizontal)"

is that some careful phrasing or is .22 always .22?

Here's a recent thread that should help some.

Dot Pitch is the size of EVERY dot on you moniter. Therefore the lower the DP the better the picture quality/more expensive. The horizontal lines/vertical lines is decided by the resoultion. 1024x768 i cant rem witch # is hor and ver though |) btw 1024x768 is reffered to as XGA
