Popping speakers

I just got a set of Creative Labs FPS 2000 Digital speakers. When I hook them up to my soundblaster live value's digital output the speakers seem fuzzy and have this popping noise even at low volumes but when I hook them up to the analog outputs they sound fine. Does anyone know how to remedy this problem?

I seem to remember something about "not enabling analogue and digital at the same time" from a readme somewhere...
Try the sound properties box (with the sliders)
I think there is a "use digital only" check box in there somewhere. You may also need to mute other outputs...
Add new sliders from the Advanced menu, as only four or five are visible by default...

I have a Abit BE-6 Rev.2 with 128MB Ram and a PIII 550. I've tried it on "Digital Only" and it does the same. As for getting a new card this one is a new card, might exchange it for a soundblaster Live MP3 or higher if that would solve the problem.

you could try the new card....but as far as know the cards are pretty much the same, with just different add ons...only reason i checked to see what board is come of the via chipsets have probs with crackling/popping with that card...but not an issue in you case i guess

I have had similar problems with Altec Lansing speakers, mostly when I play CD's from the CD-ROM drive. I have found that the best solution is to use Win95 Volume control (the little speaker looking doohickey in the system tray, also accessible through START-PROGRAMS-ACCESSORIES-MULTIMEDIA) and reduce the volume level for the CD player. If you are having this problem with all or almost all of your audio output, you should lower the volume level for "Volume Control."
Play with the setting until you find one that gives you good sound and good volume. I hope this helps.

I definitely have to agree with hbooraem! The easiest solution is to change the volume control. When the volume control is at the max for my SB pci64 it pop's on some songs but not all. If this doesn't work then you might have gotten a bad card.
