Hi! Do you know that playstation emulator called bleem? well, I got it last month and it performed poorly on my onboard sis530 AGP (k6-2, 300mhz). I'm ready to buy a graphics card and the most popular around local stores is the voodoo banshee. I would like to know if this one is suitable for bleem, or maybe look for voodoo2 or voodoo3, anyway, I don't know the difference between this 3 cards. Please help...!

Shouldn't the banshee be better than the voodoo2? and by the way, what is SLI? they don't have that version at the local stores. If you're using a combination, does it mean I need one too?

Here is goes:
Voodoo2:
1. 3D acceleration on fullscreen only
2. Has 2 TMU, which means that games like Unreal, Quake, etc. will run faster on it.
3. Can do SLI, which means to connect 2 voodoo2 cards to use parallel processing and even more fps.
Banshee:
1. 2D/3D acceleration so if you have a lame old 2D card you can replace it with.
2. Can run 3D accelerated games on fullscreen and windowed.
3. Can't do SLI only one banshee per computer.
4. It only has one TMU, so it will run games like the ones I told you before.
Voodoo3:
1. All of the voodoo2 and banshee features excpet for SLI.
2. Faster than the other two.
3. Voodoo 3500TV only: attractive multimedia functions and the fastest voodoo based card avaible.
The banshee is attractive and runs games at the same level of a voodoo2 with some overclocking except for quake type games, but the if you want something better buy the voodoo3 3000 or 3500TV. And if you want the card that is much better go for a TNT2 or TNT2 Ultra. Or even buy a Matrox G400 Max they say it rocks on Direct3D. But I recomend you to go for the TNT2/TNT2 Ultra or voodoo3 3000 or if you got extra money and the multimedia features gets you attention buy the v3 3500TV.
I got bleem! a couple of weeks ago because my Playstation CD mechanism died, and it works great on my Celeron400@500 with Voodoo3 3000. The accelerated modes look fantastic - in some cases better than the original because of the hi-res option.
However, in full screen most stuff looks blocky on a monitor because the playstation relies on the poor quality of your TV to do its mipmapping and anti-aliasing /forum/smile.gif
Many games I have to slow down. The vast majority seem to work, although the Syphon Filter demo seems to act weird, with the floor disappearing and falling to your death. It's almost like Sony got wise and incorporated anti-emu code.

Hey, this was great! Three very different approaches, narrowed to voodoo3 and TNT. Useful stuff!
Thanks a lot, and cheers!

First of all, skywalker[TSG], I have a Banshee. It is really nice for the money. It is just as fast as a V2. Second, if you have been comming to this site for a while you would have noticed a news post about a device that you can buy that will let you use your Banshee in "SLI" mode. I used the Banshee for a long time and was proud to have it, but recently I made my own computer, so I had to get the lattest a greatest graphics card to go with it ( I got the TnT2 Ultra ). The Banshee is still a great card and I would recomend it to almost anyone, but, if you do have the cash, get a TnT2 Ultra. Right now since I can't play Glide games I want to put my Banshee back in and use both, but I don't know what kind of setup I need to do that. Anyways, dispite what some people have said about the Banshee, it really is a nice card, but like I said, if you have the extra cash, get a bigger and better card. Oh , and, the duel V2's w/a TnT2 sound nice, but why wast that much money on the V2's when your only going to use them on Glide games? After all, less and less games are using that API and going w/other ones. And, that is a wast of 2 valuable PCI slots for something you wont use very often.
