I heard a rumour about a month or so back that the devlopers of the TNT chip would be releasing a GLide conversion kit so that TNT users can play DOS based 3DFX Glide games as though they were using a 3DFX themselves.

If I remember correctly, it did this by converting code for use with Direct X.

Has anyone heard any more about this, and if it is available. If it IS available, how good is it? Is it worth getting.

I am thinking of getting a TNT 2 for the sheer amount of power it has, but I reluctant to move away from Glide because I have so many games that use it (GTA, Carmageddon, Unreal Tournament, etc...).

Does anyone have any thoughts/recommendations on this?

They are called: Glide wrappers. They allow you to play Glide-based games on nvidia cards.

Just download them and use them. There is a lot of info. flying around about them. Just search for it and that way you'll know if the wrapper does work with your game.

The drivers do not do "DOS" per se, but in a windows VDM. I think your talking about the creative labs unified drivers for TNT2. It's a glide emulation driver for the TNT2 video card, and will only install on the CL cards. They no longer post them due to legal concerns.

I have them if you want them, but you need a CL TNT2.

The performance is on par with an original voodoo card, and they do not do any modern game justice where FPS is concerned (They are reallllllyyyyyyyy ssssllloooooooooooowwwwwwwwww.....)

I have used it for my CL TNT for quite some time.
At 640x480 on the 3dfx UT Demo, it was playable for me in Glide (not optimal but it was playable none the less...Id guess about 30fps.
If you tune down the Res a bit, you get the added bonus of being able to play glidegames
Remember..unified is just a bonus..no more

Hi, I have a quaetion, does a glide wrapper look as drab and plain as games like quake 2 look when you are using the default settings?
