Sorry to hear about that, but why didn't you unplug the power supply before disassembly?
That is the first rule when working inside of a PC even before having a proper ground on yourself to work on it.
Again, sorry to hear about that and it's an expensive lesson also.
OUCH!!!

Has there been any thunderstorms in your area of late?

Do you have renter's insurance or a home owner's policy?

So much for the moral high-ground - I'm a wadin' in Mozambique........ http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Sorry to hear about the death in the family - learn to look on the bright side - and I don't mean "was there a spark". hehehehe

Oh man, that's sad to hear.

If you can't get replacements for them, why not try sellin' them as dead parts. I'm sure some of us would like to make keychains out of 'em. Just a suggestion.

ALWAYS turn the power off before you operate on any electrical equipment!!! You never ever forcefully yank a cpu out of its slot, if you're doing it right it should come out sweet as a pie.

All I've got to say is WOW....

Are you sure all the components you've listed there are dead? Tried them on a different computer to test them out???

Maybe some are still in good workin' order.
..lets hope.

Skywalker: If you haven't already, go to bed. Sleep on it, and try messing with it again in the morning. You'd be amazed at what a good night's sleep will do. While working on the Win2k article, I thought I had toasted a dual Shuttle board, 2 128MB PC100 DIMMs, and a 64MB DIMM. In the end, nothing was fried, and everything works.

So give it some time. It could be you've only fried one component. Try working with everything outside of the case to put away any grounding possibilities. Don't forget prayer either - fixed a lot of things I -KNEW- was toast or just wouldn't work. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

How do you know it was all fried if you don't have a working system on which to test the hardware?

Hey Skywalker; I've a used but good VOM I can send for the next time. Sorry to read about the disaster. You never leave your wingman and always check for incoming power to protect yourself as well as your equipment.
Not trying to put salt on an open wound. We can replace the parts buy not YOU. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Oh man that sucks... I never realized that having the power turn on whilst removing the processor could fry everything like that. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Hey, look on the bright side though, you've still got the 700Mhz Coppermine! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

A warning... Yesterday I had just replaced a dead 540 meg hard drive with a 260 megger I had laying around in my P75, when I noticed that the monitor was really dusty. I grabbed some tissue paper and wiped the dust off the screen, nothing unusual right? Well... While wiping the dust off the screen my hand came a little too close to the computer's case and zap, out it goes. It was a nice little spark too. A few minutes later it boot right up. Luckily nothing seems damaged. So let this be a warning to you. Never clean your monitor. lol Or at least make sure the computer is off first... (sounds like Skywalker can use these little tips... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif)
