I've got a used 21" Trinitron and it has the faint pinkish hue.. Some people tell me that the tubes is burned out and I need to replace it. I tried adjusting hue with the software but it didn't help much... Any suggestions?
The monitor is HP A4033A

Pinkish hue? Is this hue constant or does it flicker?

When mine went like that, it was shot. Fortunately, Dell replaced it the next day at no charge. This isn't saying yours is shot, but you'll need to take it to a tech and have it looked at.

Its a bit of a long shot, but when my monitor changed colour slightly, it was due to magnetic interferce from my speakers!!! Don't know if that helps.

The hue actually is constant, when I crack up my brightness on max you can see it as a little pinkish, but I noticed that after maybe 20 minutes sometimes(not always) it goes away, and the brightness is white again.. It does not flicker though.. Also when I changed video cards from Intense3D Voodoo Rush to Creative TNT2 Ultra, the pinkish hue became less noticable.. What the hell can it be?

Try degaussing every 20 minutes for a little while.

I've got the monitor used, so I didn't get any manuals with it... There is no button for degaussing, but there is a mysterious button called CTL that seems not do anything... I tried combinations with other buttons.. no effect.. if any1 knows this monitor please let me know..

I have a theory, but I'm too lazy to implement it.. I have a 17" Epson as my secondary monitor on my PC... might be it... or the tube is screwed.. maybe there is a tune-up feature inside that made for factory use.. I dunno... But for now I just decided to bear with it.. U can't really see the hue unless you're comparing it to another monitor...

The pink hue might be due to your monitor blooming because the contrast is set to high.
I would think that a correctly set grey scale on that monitor would but the brightness and contrast controls at about 25%.
