Could a out-of-date-bios problem cause these problems on an ABIT BX6 motherboard?

1. not being able to switch above 640x480x4 in any way (wont stick)
2. 32bit color isn't a detected selection
3. no 3d acceleration is detected at all
4. windows says it is working fine

any help would be appreciated.

thankyou

The sound recommendation is not to flash the Bios if the system is function smoothly.

Flash it if a needed fix or supporting features in the update are required.

It sounds like a bad installation proceedure of the vid-drivers. Either that or...Are you able to change refresh rates under Adapter in Display Properties? If the isn't a selection, check the Monitor tab and see if your monitor is properly identified. If it isn't, change it to the right one.

Reboot and see if you can change the settings.

If you can't, change the adpter to Standard VGA and reboot, Then reinstall the drivers.

Your best bet is get a new motherboard. All my friends have BX6 2 motherboards and they all have been experiencing problems with their boards concerning compatibility issues. My recommendation is to get Asus motherboard. Either a P2B-F or a P3B-F. They're both more stable than the BX boards for overclocking. I haven't had any problems with hardware conflicts. I highly recommend getting one. I have P3B-F and works beautifully.

currently using BX board with the viper770ultra detonator 2.08 drivers. Try to clean out the drivers you have loaded and reinstall these drivers. They out perform the others. Dramatically.
