I tried notching up my PIII 450 to 532 (133x4), my AGP/CPU was 2/3. Set Cas L to 3, coreV to 2.1. It didn't work, so I reset the defaults, booted up, everything seemed ok. Went back to the usual @504, v2.0, same AGP/CPU - 2/3. Cas L to 2. Everything seemed ok.

Loaded Descent 3 and things got real choppy in < 2 mins. Exited game, looked at the vidcard and the fan is not spinning. At all.

Tried pulling the fan to pcb wire off for a few, then back on. The fan still isn't spinning. I seem to have no vid problems except for the game.

V770 32mg TNT2U. Did I just fry this card, or what? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Well the card seems to be working alright, but I do have a dead fan. Guess tomorrow (today..) has just been planned for me!

I might as well go for a bigger/better sink/fan. I have a good 3/4" of useable space from the chip.

Edit:: maybe i should've realized that multiplier LOCKED means just that (no going lower) another for the DUH list.

STOP, before you remove that fan, consider this, I run by p3 450 at 580, with a v770. As the fan power comes through the card, is the card at fault? if so is this a possible warranty return? There are no complex electronics in the fan, so the only thing that would stop it working would be a burn out or a fault on the card, so if it smells of melted plastic replace the fan, if it doesn't, return the card. My work here is complete...

hmm just wondering..is it the same 3 pin connector as the Mobo fan connectors? prolly not but if it is, try pluging it in there and see if it spins up. Never seen a TNT2 in my life so just speculating

SoCal-Take the card back. It's not worth wondering why the fan doesn't work. The inoperative fan may have damaged a circuit that won't show up until later. You spent a wad on your new 'puter,so,don't take any chances.Rev up that new "pocket rocket" of your's and cruise on down and get a new one....DawgTuff.

Thanks for the replies http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

The fan did smell burnt. Deciding to try the safer method before prying off the fan, I took it back Sunday and got another V770 TNT2U.
All is well.

AuraEdge - it's a 2 lead wire that goes from fan into vidcard. (I think I said that electronically-correct..)

Dawgtuff - Hi!
