Hey, R311.
Your the one with a Oxygen GVX1. Must be running some nice applications with that.
I use the Hercules TNT2 Ultra. Pretty good with games. Sure the Vipers are just as good. The H-T2U has an slight edge on speed. Basically the TNT2 Ultra performances are the same across the board from manufacturer to manufacturer.
The Elsa Synergy II (also based on the TNT2 chip) may be worth your time to look into. They place it as an offering right below the Glorias . It comes with Elsa's highly acclaimed drivers for OpenGL and drivers optimized for application such as 3D Studiomax/Viz, PhotoShop and Autocad. All performing better under the PIII's streaming extensions.Since it is a TNT2 (don’t know if it is the Ultra or not) it should be just as good in games. If you might be running apps beside games on that machine, I’d consider it for the $230~40 price at BuyComp.
But I guess you want this machine to be mainly gaming and will be buying the card immediately. So go with the TU2s from Hercules, Diamond or the MaxiGamer from Guillemot. The other choice is to move to the 3dFX chips on the Voodoos. Personally, I’ve never been there. Now with the T2Us, there isn’t a compelling reason to. The Matrox? I don’t know. They excel in some areas but always seem to fall short in a key area.
The gaming experience itself from any of these cards are good enough.....for the time being, that is.

i got a diamond viper v770 non ultra and it has oc stable from 125 vcore to 170 and mem 150 to 185 stable which is great if u buy the ultra u will only get better memory performance not much more on the core maybe 10 - 15 mhz more and to 200 220 on the memmory.but u wont see much an improvement as when its set to agp 4x thats when its really gonna heat up and show great frame rates....66x 4 =264 mhz agp bus to the cpu

Richard, whatever AGP card you use will probably blow up because of your 180MHz bus speed....arf arf!

450? 850?!? What?!!
R311, you don't seem to be a malicious sort of fellow. But that was really dumb. Your taking it from all sides over there…I’m certain a lot of it is good-natured, although at first glance, it may not be. All the guys there are good people and will forgive your slip-up.
Save some face. You can say you hit the wrong key or something. But the best way out of this would be a simple “Sorry”. Don’t even try to leave an explanation. You'll dig yourself into a deeper hole. Just apologize with one word.
Really.
We'd like to see you stay.
In a way, its kinda humorous. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
