CMTaylor313 06-07-1999, 06:26 PM Well if you're looking for price, go with the banshee... look around on the internet, I've seen an OEM Banshee for under $80 at Atacom, while the 32Meg Viper770 OEM is $190... you do the math. Personally, I have a banshee and am not even thinking about upgrading, and when I do it will probably be to Voodoo3 (mainly 'cause of Glide). Plus TNT uses your CPU, while Voodoo uses it's own. CMT CMTaylor313 06-07-1999, 06:26 PM oops... sorry, meant V770 Retail. WhoKnowsWho 06-07-1999, 08:07 PM TNT uses your CPU and V2 doesn't? Wow, I wish that was true, then 3dfx would have the only true dedicated chip on the market... but sadly, it does use the cpu, both do, that's why both cards are faster on 500 mhz PIII than a PII 300. I had a Voodoo3 2000, $130 and decided to switch to a TNT2 from Guilemot, just as fast, looks better, and I have never looked back. And the same price to boot after the rebate! What type of computer do you have? Stay away from the Banshee if possible, a Voodoo3 or TNT2 will last you tons longer, perform tons better, and both would look better than the banshee cards. Look at the games you want to play, old ones are the only ones which need Glide, new ones are not going to be glide dependant, so the V3 just isn't the greatest of choices if you are looking forward. statix84 06-07-1999, 08:48 PM Hi I have a celeron 400mhz cpu. The motherboard is a micronics C300 with 64mgs of sdram. cobain1crt 06-11-1999, 08:07 PM I have seen $16mb banshee cards for under $45, and they are compatable, and they come with software optimized for them, and mine came with DVD stuff, and......... AuraEdge 06-12-1999, 10:51 AM You know, they sell 16mb OEM TNT2's for less than 100? if u look around enuf u will find em. I havent searched for TNT prices since TNT2 came out, but i suspect it would be down near where the banshee is cuz its not 'top of the line' anymore. TNT (yea..thats right the old one) is an awesome card compared to the banshee, in my opinion. If u can get the TNT for 20 bucks more than the banshee, id choose the TNT. Ive been able to play every game I want. Im not even concerned about glide support (and creative labs has a glide wrapper if i ever need one for Diablo 2 or sumthin) SysOpt.com
