My monitor just died and I am looking at getting another. (if I am at SysOpt.com then it was by pure luck - joke people).
I was after opinions on various 15" monitors, anything except Trinitron as they are too expensive.
Brands Names, is dot pitch/size/whatsit that important? I also play way too much Unreal Quake etc and will spend hours staring at homework, so clarity would be nice.

Should look at some 17" monitors if you play games and look at text and stuff. I have gotten used to using a 17" monitor and going back to my home computer with the small 15" is starting to hurt the eyes. They are not that much more expensive anymore... sorry, not much info on the technical stuff from me.

What did you want to keep the cost to?

Might be a bit difficult going through that since I am in Australia, but to give you an idea, 15" Sony is about $500 and normal 15" are in the $300 range. Under $350 will get a 3 year warranty which is what I am after considering monitors are about the only things that die as they are old technology. LCD's have just been listed, starting at $2500(15"). Hmm...Maybe not.

Can't you do some online shopping? Using www.priceline.com and www.pricescan.com would help find a low price.

That's expensive.
I don't know what to tell you. I was going to suggest finding a factory direct refurbished 19" for $350 or less. I wouldn't consider a 15". Nor a 17" these days. But your in between a lotta water, alotta land and a hard rock with an expensive sticker price.
Try www.pricewatch.com/ (http://www.pricewatch.com/) too.
Check and see if there are any reviews here. www.reviewbooth.com/pr_review_search2.htm (http://www.reviewbooth.com/pr_review_search2.htm) Are 15" monitors even reviewed anymore?
The taxes, shipping and custom fees alone would cost more than the display, if you got it over here, no?

Thanks guys, even though most of the waranties that I have seen have been with the manufacture themselves, I still prefer to have a local store that I can yell and scream at if something goes wrong.
Enjoy your big screens you *&%$#^&^*

Look for a Digiview monitor. You should be able to get their 15" monitor for less than $150 USA. Their 17" monitors sell for $175-$200 USA. The quality and image are great. I have an HR1510, and I like it very much. I only paid $122 for it (plus S&H).
