IBM Z50 workpad

Need advise re: IBM Workpad Z50 (the mini with windoze PC)...works fine except it is VERY slow downloading certain webpages with lots of printing (works better on pages with graphics???)..also: can one install a better modem in these units--and--r there any tweaks that can be done on these systems??
