agp i740 and win98

anybody else have trouble getting this card to work? got the real3D 4 meg version, and it won't work in anything besides 640 X 480 16 colors (real ugly). the real3d site says win98 might have overwritten my agp drivers, but i have a fresh install of win98 on a bx mb. any ideas? yeah, i changed to the generic vga drivers before i installed the card.

what happens if you change the adapter device to your i740?

Is tht adapter device you have installed say that it is a i740?

I'll be picking up my i740 8mb today and hopefully everything will work out, maybe I'll help you out if everything is ok. are you using the i740 on a Super7 board? or a slot 1 board?

got it to work finally -- by reverting back to win95osr21.

in win98 it installed correctly with the correct name and everything -- it just wouldn't work at any resolution, color depth, or any refresh, besides 640x480x16 colors.

freakout: its a bx board so its a slot 1. you might have some trouble getting it to work on anything other than a intel chipset since it wants to use agp "properly". the voodoo agp cards are supposed to be better for super7 boards. btw, the image quality is much nicer than my old matrox mystique in both 2d and 3d, but i haven't tried to hook it up to my voodoo2 yet (wanted to try some games in 1024x768).

Hi Kwai,

I got my Picasso i740 and installed it onto my Abit BX6-2 board, then flashed the bios and installed the latest drivers, All works good and it looks alot better than my Matrox Myst too. The opengl scores I get are:

640x480 36.7fps
800x600 24.8
1024x768 15.2

I will stick to my Voodoo2 SLI setup for games http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

congrats. yeah, its not the fastest, but i'm using it for turn-based at 1024x768, so no sweat. of course, i'll be keeping my voodoo2 for now.
