how to overclock video card

can anyone tell me how to overclock a video card? is there anysite to do it? what am i overclocking? the refresh rate?
I know there is a software called power stip can do it, but what hell am i overclocking?

on video card, you usually have two overclock settings, there is the memory speed, and the core clock speed. Bumping the memory speed up will increase rendering speed, since the memory holds all textures, etc, and upping the core clock will make the card do operations such as drawing triangles, and polygons quicker..hehe of course you might need to get a fan, for the chip on the video card if there isnt' already one there...they can get pretty hot
