Unreal Tournament anyone?

I've set up a UT gaming server and several sysopt folks have been in and out of there fragging for the last couple nights, but I wanted to make sure everyone here knew about it. sorry about shooting you reddog. hehe http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif um I left to eat dinner at around 8:40 and came back at 9:00 and no one was in there. or did we move to a different ip because of the lag issue. we should get a team deathmatch or CTF match against tomshardware, anandtech, or someother website. good shooting sysopt members too bad the ping got up to arund 3000 sometimes. was someone downloading the maps? because it was sometimes real good with low ping but other time there was like a 3 sec lag. scott what type of dsl do you have. well hopefully pacbell will get out here soon and install dsl for me and I'll try to set one up too. anyone else with some spare bandwidth. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Yeah I have 1024k/384k DSL, but it was peaking at about 150k. So, my options are:

-Organize games on other servers that are fast and not crowded or are empty
-Set up a server on EarthWeb's frame relay line in our SF office, if I can
-Upgrade my DSL line

I'm thinking that your dsl line is plenty fast for the 6 or 7 players that are in there. was it that laggy last time you guys played. how far would you be from the phone company. or try turning off automatic downloads. i'll go check around the unrealuniverse to see if there are any tweaks out there. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

hmmm... used gamespy and found the active server last night about, but UT stuck on "connecting" for 20 min. 3-4 retries later, I gave up.. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

It's up now.. But 4-5 players max.. BTW, you don't need to use Gamespy, just run UT and under the multiplayer menu do a "open location".

by the way, "Eli" I would only recommend running UT on a PC with 128Mb Ram and a decent 3d card. Nothing less.

V2 and 128MB RAM should do the trick!
