My monitor produces an intermitting high-pitch noise. It's really annoy, and doesn't happen all the time. Everything else seems to work okay. Does anyone have similar problems, or know the reason behind this?
Thanks!

I get that too! I have a Sylvania F72 17" Monitor running on a PII350, BH6, and 64 ram with a CL TNT @ 110 (not OC'ed) and SBL!V SC.
also...it goes away when some applications are minimized (usually IE or Outlook Express) and resumes when its maximized again. Also near the bottom while i hear his noise, i notice small lines (like on the taskbar) that look like distortion. This usally happens only when the comp is on for less than 10 minutes. Any ideas?

check refresh rates for your video cards.. as well as monitor.. and lower them if they are too high.. also check for any electrical disturbance.. like a sub-woofer if it is too close to the monitor..

It has to be more than that. Most speakers and subwoofers have electro-magnetic shielding. Do you think I might have a busted monitor, or a blown up capacitor? I don't have any problems with the display...just a really annoying high-pitch sound.
Thanks!!!

I know my power supply isnt optimum. Im gunna get it replaced soon...After that happens im gunna see if its still doin it.
Im guessin this is the problem.
My sub is about....2-3 feet from my monitor
speakers each 5 feet away give or take.
Monitors brand new...less than a month old

Your monitor has noisy electronics. Its not uncommon. This is due to poor quality control. Expensive and inexpensive products can suffer from this symptom. It's not isolated to monitors either. Items such as sound equipment, TVs, line conditioners, UPS's, etc. You name it.
It should work just as well in most cases, but as you say, it can be **** annoying.
Additionally, you may be a person who is extra sensitive to these sounds.

Don't fell too bad it is the power supply but at least it's only on a computer monitor that cost $300.I bought a $1400 RCA 36'tv that had the same problem.Defintely the power supply though I had an old monitor and tv that also did the same thing.I think that it's worse if you are sensitive to high pitched noise my girlfriend thought I was crazy when the tv would drive me nuts making that noise.

If your speakers get their power from a "brick" ac adapter, watch were you plug it in. Even though they shield the speakers, they sometimes fail to shield the voltage converter in the adapter. Bad text near the bottom of a co-worker's 17 inch monitor was traced to her speaker ac adapter on a surge strip sitting on her desk due to the placement of the wall outlet. 2 feet was not far enough away.

Okay, I've finally isolated the problem.
If I set the refresh rate to 85 H (Vertical), I get the high pitch sound. Anything less than 85 (75 Hz, 70 Hz, 60 Hz) then there's no sound. I've tried different resolution also (16, 24, 32 bits); it doesn't matter, at 85 Hz there's this a high-pitch sound.
Hum... I have a voodoo 2000 PCI that should be able to handle 60-100 Hz at 16.7 million colors (24 bits, I think?). The monitor is able to support 47-150 Hz.
I don't know what wrong.. someone isn't so accurate in the numbers.
What do you guys think?
Thanks.

I had the same problem. I followed the suggestion to move my speaker away from my monitor. It seems to have alleviated the problem. Thank you so much. That noise was driving me to distraction. Hopefully this continues to help, but if not, could someone please explain on how to refresh it?
