I have known alot of people that bought something because of a big rebate that was on
it,but never recieved the rebate,I am one of these poeple....I havent gotten 2 rebats from microshaft and one from 3dfx so far,in fact I never actually recieved a rebate....if alot of people apply for them then they stop honoring them after awhile.
Anyone else have problems with rebates?

Hey Oblivion: Sorry to hear the bad news. Actually, I've received all my rebates except one from DIGITAL RESEARCH TECHNOLOGIES for my scanner. Just got Cdrw and floppie rebate. And one for my daughter's monitor. What can I say????? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Yep they are the craps...I got like $45 in rebates coming (or not coming is more precise) and now after 8 weeks, I have to call a number (long distance no less) and go and my knees and talk to the nice people and ask for money for something I bought as xmas gifts and now its almost spring, and rebates are the craps...

wouldn't that fall along somewhere along the line of false advertisement if they don't do their part of the deal?
I never ever ever ever ever buy anything having to use rebates as basis of my decision making process. Never ever ever Ever.
never ever ever Ever never ever never!!!
never.

If you see a hole, do you walk into it?
I dunno about you guys, but I don't.

I bought a burner that had a rebate early last September. "6 to 8 weeks" later, in February (6 months is closer...) it finally arrived. I was about a week away from sending them a nasty letter too... lol
oblivion sorry to hear that, I've maied in several and got em all. Possibly just lucky I dont know - Biff

I have gotten all mine back that I have sent in. Microsoft say 8 weeks, but it took about 16 weeks. They did that to me 3 times now.

Plucky- Why don't you tell us how you REALLY feel. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif LOL
I have gotten all of my rebates. I treat them as cake. I could do without them but am happy to get them. I don't base decisions on them. But I would expect to get them though. and would be a bit ticked if I didn't get them.

I bought a Pioneer amplifier with a $20 rebate (that was not why I bought it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif). I sent the rebate to them at the very beginning of November.
I'm still waiting.
But this is the only trouble I've ever had.

man, I must be having one helluva bad luck then. Its either they're very very late with gettin' the money thru or the litte rebate sticker says *for U.S. residents only*
somebody buy a lottery ticket and send it to me, maybe your good luck will bring me some fortune, eh? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I always get the rebate - one way or another!
A few tips:
Photocopy everything you send them. The filled-in form, the UPC code, EVERYTHING.
Mark the date mailed on the copy, and file it.
If it's a big one, keep the store ad also.
After the time stated has gone, call them. Be polite, but also firm and demanding. Document the call, date & time. Get the person's FULL name.
Two weeks later take your info to the store and get your money!
This WORKS. The store has little choice since they advertised it, and they'd rather keep a customer satisfied anyway!
(BTW, I've gotten lucky twice. Store paid off badly overdue rebate, then quite sometime later the manufacturer sent a check!) http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif
I've also been known to keep a product UNOPENED until the rebate is recieved. Then if a problem occurs, I give them a choice. Pay the rebate, or the full return.
BestBuy even paid off on the Atlas modem that way when nothing else worked. Nobody else I know collected THAT one!
This is a matter of principle with me. I keep my word, and I INSIST they do too!

Never had any probs with rebates, a few days ago I received a rebate from ATI. I completely forgot about it. But it is nice to receive a check you never thought would come http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Hope you get it sooner or later.

i'm still waiting for mine... two $30 imation superdisk diskettes, one $20 usb superdisk, one $30 PNY memory, one $10 logitech soundman G1.
maybe i rely too much on rebates to get cheap stuff...but it has worked so far... got $50 back for my acer cd-rw and $30 from 3dfx.

only rebates I've had problems with have been digital research CD-ROM drives. Although I've heard of a lot of rebate problems with Atlas Modems and Visioneer scanners I got my rebates.
Xerox even sent back my original reciept for my XJ6C printer with my check and told me to hang onto it for the duration of the 3 year warranty.

I have gotten all rebates from the major guys like Microsoft, Diamond, and Western Dig. But I have NEVER gotten them from smaller companies. Emails and calls are more pain than the money you are due back normally, because they never get answered. It seems like every company has an answering machine instead of a live person. I am with plucky, I NEVER buy items with a rebate anymore unless I like the price sans rebate in the first place. I am waiting for the first class-action suit regarding rebates to come out, cause I am gonna join it and toast these fu****s.

While we're on the subject let's not forget how our friends at Comp USSR and Worst Buy advertise products at the rebated price. Sure, its a minor annoyance, but I hate to pick up the Sunday paper and see a really good price for something and then get the bifocals adjusted to see the 1 1/2 point type that says "with rebate". Probably doesn't matter, because you'll never find the product in stock anyway.
