Pixie is making a monitor that is being sold as an RCI 19" Model 995 that says right on the box that it is a .22 dot pitch monitor. If you check CompUSA's ad this week you can see where they also call it a .22 monitor. I can't find a web site for RCI, but Pixie also list a model 995 (probably the same one, but it says it is a .26 dot pitch on their web page).

Does anybody know what is up with this? I would say it was a typo on CompUSA's web site if I hadn't seen it written on the side of the box with my own two eyes. I have heard Pixie is a pretty cheap monitor and I truly doubt they have a better dot pitch than Sony (.25).

Some monitors use a "shadow mask" and one other format to design/construct their crt's - not using the dot pitch type Sony does.
Hitach has a .22 rating on their 17" monitor crt and it is a "different" type crt.
The rating does NOT equate w/ better picture. I think it is using an "orange" rating system to evaluate apples and oranges...
ood luck. I was going to buy the 17" Hitachi until I read more. I bought the Samsung synchmaster 900p instead and it is NICE.

I talked to Pixie tech support and they said it has a .22 horizontal dot pitch and a .26 diagonal dot pitch. So basically it is a .26 dot pitch monitor that they kind of try to mislead you on. Yes, the horizontal dot pitch is .22, but only Hitachi and Pixie have started using the horizontal dot pitch instead of the diagonal and it is done to make themselves look better than the competition. Since most people don't know enough to realize that the numbers aren't comparable to what the rest of the industry is giving specs for this would seem somewhat underhanded.
