I have already asked this question once before but I am hoping to get a different answer. Is there any way I can give my computer, which has internet access (through a modem and isp), an ip address on the web (the isp does not provide me with a static ip on the web for free) with out paying for anything.

ISPs have blocks of IP addresses that they give out as people dial in. Without paying you can't have a static IP address unless you go with Cable or ADSL.
Sorry, but I wanted the same thing for PCAnywhere.

My ISP said they could assign me a static IP....
I am going to try to use some leverage on my isp to get a free staic ip. They want $10 a month for it, but dsl just got in my area. Unfortunatly I can't get it at my house, but they don't know that. I have been a long time customer of them and pay one year in advance. I am going to tell them give me a static ip (no additional cost to them that I can see) or I will cancel my account and get dsl. What do you think?

Wow for free? Which one is it? Is it a local one in your state?
