I heard this song on the radio but I don't know what it is. I really want to get the mp3 to it. A line I can remember goes something like this:
"My oh my where did my baby go..."
"...The Lord took her away from me..."
I guess it's about a guy who lost his wife/daughter. It has the word "heaven" scattered around it. I know this is VERY vague but if any of you have even the slightest clue, please tell me. Thanks!

Doh- stuck in my head too.
Dave
J Frank Wilson and the Caveliar's, made in 64, i believe. The original is so much better than PJs.

Why do people remake songs only to destroy great songs? I was boycotting the movie "The Faculty" because I think that the remade version of Pink Floyd's classic and excellent "Another Brick in the Wall, Part II" in the movie is a crime against nature. I think that great songs should be protected by the govt from being remade by hacks with 1/1000th the musical talent of your average flea.
My motto, on film as well as on songs, is "if you can't remake it, and do it better, why remake it?". That's the reason that I didn't like them remaking Psycho (who on earth can claim to be better than a Hitchcock?) although I did see it, and it was good to see it on a huge screen, why not rerelease the original which would be much better? In fact the only reason it was as good as it was is due to the fact it's almost exactly the Hitchcock version, just not done quite as well.

Just FYI, the Pearl Jam version of this song was never supposed to be a relesed "hit". My understanding is it was a traditional "warm up" tune for them.
And not all remakes are bad. In fact some are quite good, even better than the originals. I know you never would've caught me singing (or playing) The Knack's "You Really Got Me", but Van Halen's version OTOH really rocks.

You want to hear some complete utter ruination of a classic just listen to marilyn manson's version of a AC/DC song (Highway to Hell)on the Detroit Rock City soundtrack..Although I didnt mind their version of the song Sweet dreams are made of this..I think they ruined a good AC/DC song because it sounded nothing like the original (it was so different I almost didnt recognize it if it werent for halfway intelligible lyrics)...And you are right about that Outpatient, there are great remakes even if they arent any better than the original (who can honestly say they didnt like Sam Kinison's remakes? LOL)..for the record I actually like PJ's version of that sad song but if you all hear the bastardized AC/DC song im talkin about..well, nuff said LOL

Or Madonna's hack and slash of Don McLean's American Pie... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif No emotion whatsoever. Sounds like she's smiling when she's singing it.

Weird Al Yankowiz version is even lots better then Madonna's
I kinda liked the Faculty's version of Another Brick In The Wall... What I hated was Rob Zombie's remix of Dragula from the Matrix. The original is great, but the remix is just wrong.

Oh where, oh where can my baby be,
the Lord took her away from me.
She's gone to Heaven so I've got to be good,
so I can see my baby when I leave this world.
Could probably sing it, but you wouldn't want to hear it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. BUT, I can't remember who's song it was originally.
Napster is good when it works... Have you ever noticed how rare it is to be able to resume a download after a while? What, does everyone assume a new name everytime they sign on? Each person on my hotlist has been on a total of one time.
Banti, Rob Zombie made the original then it was remixed for the Matrix, possibly by him. He better leave Living Dead Girl alone. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
