I have an Epox MVP3G2 with a K6-II 550 and a 3DFX Voodoo 3 3000 and 256MB PC-100, NOW,,, what I am trying to find out is that how can I overclock this thing, is it safe to turn up the Mhz? and How high can I go with these cards, PCI's I have a WinTV GO,, USR Winmodem, Linksys tx100 NIC,, SB Live Value,, .. On this board I only see a 5.5x for the CPU but this board goes up to 124Mhz.. Also, what should I set my voltages to? I have it set to 3.2I/O and its riding at 2.30 core and 3.38 I/O,, Any suggestions would be appreciated!!
Thanks,
Chris

Hello
if you want to get to 600mhz you need to put the multiplyer to 2x. all newer amd K6 cpus support this feature.
try this onely if you have a verygood headsink and fan!
aboute the vol. you need to have a look if your cpu is alredy 1 or 2 years old then you can try to leave the corevoltage @2.2
if it is not stable then put it to 2.3
Good Luck!
PS i do not like fsb overclocks where you need to overclock you hd, ram, gfx, sond & net. But try if you like!

I really don't think you'll have a good time overclocking that cpu! AMD K6 chips are very poor overclockers!
If you can get to 600mhz out of that chip, well, you are in luck! Most of them wont reach that high unless you increase the voltage of the cpu.!

K6-2 system will benifit more from increase in BUS speed, than just the raw MHZ.
You did not say which brand of memory you have, if it can run stable higher than 100 I would suggest that you first try to set you FSB to 112 and multiplier to 5 (thats 560). With this setting you are not overclocking the cpu per se, but you PCI would be running at 37.5 and memory at 112. This will give you much better overall improvement from plain old 100x5.5. You will not have to change the default Vcore.
Now next stage would be to try to acheive a balance of FSB and multiplier. It is by chance/luck if your cpu can run stable at 600, then first try what Tron has suggested. Set FSB to 100 and multiplier to 2x (cpu will remap that to 6x). You do not have to increase the Vcore the first time. If your system does not boot or boots but is not stable in windows, then increase Vcore 0.1V at a time. Others may be able to tell you the absolute max for your cpu, but general rule of thumb, do not go more than 0.2-0.3V over default. But off course once you increase the Vcore you will need good cooling on the cpu and the case.
You have a very nice motherboard for SS7 plateform, stable and quite overclockable.
Good Luck!
