Alright, I'm looking to make a couple of additions to my system. First off is a cd-rw. It doesn't have to be the fastest in the world, in fact I don't even mind if it's slow. What's the best bet for my money? Any particular place to shop? I found a Phillips 4x4x16 internal ide for $150 plus $25(ouch)s&h from Infinity Systems Plus, Inc. in Ohio. I'm going to check them out over on Reseller Ratings here in a bit. Oh, I'd rather it be either a usb or ide interface, preferably ide since it's cheaper, but if the price is right, usb is fine. Second thing is I'm looking to replace my chitty winmodem with an external usb. Value America has a Viking v.90/56k Faxmodem for $75(includes s&h). What do you all think about this modem? I know Viking is supposed to be pretty good stuff but I've got no personal experience with it. I also was wondering what chip it had in it and if there was a better buy out there. Any and all comments and suggestions are welcome. Thanks a bunch. Casey

Oh, I forgot to mention that I used pricewatch fairly often, but didn't know about chipsmart. Thanks

Try checking a place called Chipsmart, it's on the web @ www.chipsmart.com, (http://www.chipsmart.com,) or try www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com)

pricewatch.com seems 2 be the choice pick for buying puter parts off the web.

But I've had personal experience w/chipsmart for the past couple of years, and they've had great prices and low S&H costs, so check them out first!

Good luck!

i have bought from chipsmart in the past...then again i live ten minutes away from them...and while they do haev good prices...i have had quality issues with them. in the past i bought a motherboard, sound card, memory three or four times, another sound card and a processor. had problems with the one sound card, and all but one stick of memory being defective. i haven't used them in a while having found several oterh shops in my areas that have as good or better prices, and better service.
this place has been good to me.... http://www.axiontech.com/
but i am sure if you shop around you can find better than them
