Does anyone know whether rain 2.0 works with
win98se and a T-bird or Duron? It worked pretty well with my k6/III. Are the HALT instructions the same for K7 processors?
I installed rain 2.0 and it does something according to wintop. During idle time, cpu usage by rain is about 95% - of the not HALT suspended cpu? If I start Sandra cpu benchmark, cpu usage by rain drops to about 10%. Running rain simultaneously had no influence on the result of the benchmark.
IŽll apreciate your answer.

Well, looking at the Rain 2.0 documentation, it looks like it only supports the follwoing processors:

-AMDK5
-AMDK6
-AMDK63D
-IntelPentium
-IntelPentiumMMX
-IntelPentiumPro
-IntelPentiumII
-IntelCeleron
-IntelIMM
-Cyrix5x86
-Cyrix6x86
-Cyrix6x86MX
-IDTC6

But you can use CPUIdle V.5.8 (http://www.cpuidle.de/) which does support Athlon & Duron Processors...

Many thanks for the answer. Unfortunately, Vcool only supports some VIA chipsets. It does not support sii735 chipset,as does cpucool neither. But the progamm seems to be "cool".
