Hi there:

I have a Power Supply problem. I want to hook a K7 850 to a non-approved PS. Before I go ahead and just do it, I'd like a little theoretical information. The PS has a Max output on the 5v and 3.3v bus of 110 watts. The ones that AMD recommmends all have at least 150 watts.

So my question is: how many watts is an Athlon 850? In addition, if anyone knows the wattage of a DVD player and HDD, it would safe me ripping my current machine apart to find the wattages. Thanks. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

PS: I forgot to mention it is a 250 watt Power Supply.

Thanks Hellmund. Very complete chart - including the information I was looking for. Those K7s are power hungry; drawing 30amps and burning 50 watts on average, compared to a K6II drawing 12amps and burning 20 watts of power on average. It gives me some idea of how much I can load up the 5V and 3.3V rail.
