Have a look in the root of your hard drive for a file called config.sys and paste the contents of the file in this post.
By root I mean C:\ not in any directories(folders) or anything.

As I said I am not a wiz at this,the only thing I can find is a package with what look like gears on it and I can't get a copy of anything off it.

Are you running 98? Right click on the config.sys file and open with Notepad. Make sure the little box that says "always open with" is unchecked. Copy and paste your config.sys text to another notepad file and save it as a text file somewhere.
If there is nothing too important in the config.sys file, I would recommend just deleting its contents as 98 doesn't need it to run.

I lost control of computer to my daughter and ended up going to bed.I got some info on finding the stuff I think you guys mean , here is what I got.
DEVICE=D:\PROGRA~1\MACROM~1\N2000.SYS 1950
files=20
buffers=15
REM THE FOLLOWING LINE ADDED BY IntelliFIX 2000
DEVICE=C:\ifix2000\a2000.sys 1950
I am going to reboot and see if I can clarify what is appearing.Well I rebooted about 5 times to write down just what I already have here,I guess I don't understand this stuff yet very well,is there not supposed to be anything written in the config.sys. file.
thanks again for any help and your patience.

Easiest way to system editor. Start, Run, and type sysedit. System Editor will open. Once you click on the config.sys window, rem out lines 1 and 5 and reboot. You can use the literal command and type REM in front of those lines or simply type a ; in front of the lines you want to rem out. The next time you reboot, those lines in config.sys will not load into memory. If this does not cause any problems, you can delete them, but rem them out first to see if it causes any problems. If for some reason it does, removing the ; or REM will get you back to where you are now.
