I built a system for a friend at work and we built it with an Abit BX133-RAID. A very nice board. Only problem was the AGP diider had the AGP bus running at 84MHz. We got alot of extra cooling for the GeForce DDR he has, but the fsb still needs to be set to 131 (winter) and 129 (summer). When my friend gets back from vacation, I am going to point this article out and put it to the test. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I have those settings running at 140 to 143 fsb on my bf6 board right now. Basically your biggest problem is having an agp card that can run at such a high fsb speed because the divider is limited on a bx chipset.

what video card do you have?
generally geforce ddr cards and up seem to be able to handle high fsb speeds.

Tried the BX tweak on two BX boards, (Abit BE6 and Gigabyte BX2000) they both locked up when adjusting the memory settings. I tried running 3Dmark 2001 with mild memory tweaking and did not see any higher scores.

I have an Asus slocket and was thinking about getting a PIII 933 or 1 Gig to use on the Abit board but I am sure 133 fsb on a BX chipset would be unstable. Prove me wrong someone.
Has anyone used the BX tweak to resolve this issue I wonder?
Bob.

I'm really not farmiliar with tweaking any computer parts to run faster. I saw that article and I would like to improve the performance of my vid card I'm just not sure how to do it. I'm afraid I'll mess something up. I've got a Abit BH6 mobo and nVidia RIVA TNT2 M64 32mb VRAM vid card. Does that motherboard use the BX chipset?

I've ran countless BX boards at 133 MHZ with absolutely no stability issues...even with stock heatsink P3 450's at 600. ( In fact my W2K server (http://billhunter.net) has a P3 oc'd to 600/133. It stays running...indefinitely ( and with the stock heatsink might I add ) on a $45 Delta motherboard with nothing but a 1/3 PCI divider and a TNT2U vid card.

Bobajob many bx boards can run at 133 fsb no problem. Like I mentioned above my abit bf6 is running at 143 fsb and I have an abit be6 running a p3 450 @ 600. The key is to find the right hardware that will run at high fsb speeds. Basically you need to look around and find certain hardware people have used in there overclocked bx board setups.

Praetorian the bh6 does use the bx chipset. Don't worry too much it's not very likely you will mess anything up. If there is a problem the system will generally freeze up and you will just have to use your previous settings.

Thanks Jaida and BBA, I couldn't get past 112 fsb (P3 650@728) with any kind of reliability. I guess upping the cpu voltage and buying better quality memory would help though. Will buy a 933 or 1 Gig at the end of the month, make use of the slocket and give it a go. WOW 600 out of a 450, that's a nice overclock.
Thanks again,
Bob.

My Soyo 6BA+4 BX board is running fine at 150mhz fsb with an AIW Radeon running at 100mhz agp bus.
