When did CPUs first become overclockable? Is it possible to overclock an AMD K6-266 on a Shuttle Mobo? (I'll have to look up the exact model of Mobo.) If so, how high might I be able to safely take it? Obviously it depends on cooling and airflow, etc.

If your mobo allows increases in core voltage, fsb settings and multipliers...You're set up to go for it.
Is it one of the later K6s using the 0.25um process and 2.2V core? Those should be good overclocking candidates.

I had one of those, will run upto 2.5V BTW.
I managed to get mine upto 337.5Mhz with a 4.5 x multiplier and a 75Mhz FSB.
Keep it cool and see what you can get!!!

Sounds good.. thanks guys. Its my old system, so I guess I can safely play around with it, and not worry about screwing up my computer.
