Hi everyone, I don't know if this is where I should be asking this question, but here goes. I don't understand what all the different servers do, are for & how do I use them? Local, remote, personal, etc. Can someone explain to me or suggest a web site that will give info in detail. I have been searching & unable to find anything specific.
Thanks, Gayle

This isn't going to simplify anything, but what type of servers are you talking about?

Web Servers? Mail Servers? File Servers?

There's dozens of different kinds of servers. You really need to specify.

Proxies are my specialty.

What proxy are you using, and what software are you trying to use to chat?

Version 4.02 of what? There are many different proxy servers.

Most likely it is just a matter of configuring your proxy to let your programs communicate with the outside world. For instance, ICQ needs a outgoing UDP mapping to icq.mirabilis.com on port 4000. Then all you need to do is set up ICQ to use a socks4 proxy, and enter the appropriate info. ICQ has an information page about proxy setups. Take a look around their site for it.

AnalogX Proxy v4.02(Release).
Does that clear up?
Do you happen to know the link to that ICQ-Proxy page?

Never worked with that particular server myself, but it should still follow the same type of configuration.

The ICQ Proxy/Firewall settings page is Here (http://www.icq.com/firewall/).
