Well, according to AMD, Socket A up to 1100Mhz run up to 90c, over 1100Mhz up to 95c, and Slot A up to 70c. I think this is either: 1) a load of ****, 2) when the processor spontaneously combusts, 3) my inability to read techdocs as a non-engineer. Most likely #3! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Anyway, see http://www.amd.com/products/cpg/athlon/techdocs/pdf/23794.pdf for where I got my info.

Most people posting here seem to run from 25-60c either idle or full load. Mine runs 35c idle and 55-57 full load for a T-Bird 1.2/266 not O/C.

If it idles at over 45C I consider it to be too hot. Anything below that should be fine.

Hello folks,

In your opinion, what is the optimal temp. range of an Athlon?

How hot does yours run?
