Hi,
I have just purchased a Maxiblast Plus 20 Gb hard drive. My old drive is a Maxtor 2.5 gb. I temperarily set up the new drive as the slave with the intent to mirror the old drive to the new one and then switch cables and jumpers which should have made the new drive the master and the old drive the slave.
I even booted into dos and copies the system files to the new drive. C:\sys D: system files transferred I then shut down & switched ribbon cables and jumpers. All semmed to go fine on reboot, the bios read the master and slave correctly. but right after that the boot sequence said "non system disk. Replace disk and press any key to continue". Much like what you would see if you left a floppy in. I had to switch back to the old drive as master to continue.
Is this an indication the the system files did not transfer to the new drive ? Any other ideas ? The jumpers were correct.
Thanks
Greg

Why don't you use the software that came with the drive? Did you format the drive? The MaxBlast disk does it all for you. Formats, copies, Partitions, etc..

I did use the software. I was great for the innitial formatting of the new drive. I did run the software again and it confirmed that the system did recognize the swapping of the drives. I just don't think the system files got transferred proprely.
