Which do I follow: BIOS or Asusprobe?

I was testing my WC system and came across a discrepancy between temperatures reported in the BIOS and AsusProbe.

BIOS would tell me my system stabilizes at 111F, whereas AsusProbe puts me way up at 130F.

20 degrees is quite a difference, so which one do I follow? The waterblock doesn't feel at all close to 130 degrees so I'm inclined to trust BIOS (not to mention that a WC shouldn't run at 130F)

maybe try motherboard monitor by doing a search for it. not sure if it checks the temp of the cpu though. either way i think that 111F is a pretty high temperature for your cpu unless of course you have it running real stable after some stressful benchmarking.

Bios readings are generally the most accurate. The probes are placed in critical places and the bios reads the data from these probes and keeps the screen up to date. The AsusProbe is good, but sometimes a long way off from the bios readings.

Yeah it is strange how the temp difference between Asus Probe and the BIOS is exactly 10 degrees C. I ran the 3DMark 2001 program for a while, and also played UT for a while, and AsusProbe reported 54C. BIOS would report 44C.

111F isn't high for the CPU, temperature wise 111 is pretty good, even if it was 130F it would still be pretty good (seeing how it is summer) but not for WC. My friends run air-cooled 1.333's and they report 66C in Asusprobe so that is probably 56C true which is about 135F, and theirs are all stable.

I noticed that with WC the temps don't fluctuate like with air. When I boot up and idle the temp gets to about 50-52C (According to Asus) then when I run full load it climbs to 54C and doesn't go higher. The water really holds down the fluctuations.

well i hear alot of people saying that asus probe is off. but on my a7v the temp readings in asus probe, the bios, and motherboard monitor are all within 1 degree of each other. guess i'm the only one who doesn't have a problem with the temp sensor http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Asus probe is off. I have the A7V and I hooked up the thermo to the core and I got high 30s compared to low 50s.
