I have the Boot up Floppy disabled in the bios. When I turn on the computer everything works fine until the desktop comes on the screen and the Floppy Disk Drive starts looking for a disk and makes that searching sound. This takes about 10 seconds. After that there is no prolbems. I also tried rebooting the computer into safe mode and that bypasses the Floppy Disk Drive.

Any idea how to stop that the Floppy Disk
Drive when the computer reboots.

I tried your idea Dave_H but the Floppy Disk Drive problem is still there.

Mlpilot, under file system there is only Hard Disk, CD-ROM, and Troubleshooting. I do not see Floppy Disk Drive.

UncaDanno, there was no shortcut for any files in the Recent folder pointing to the Floppy Disk Drive.

If you have an Anti-Virus program, try disabling the startup scans.

Check in system properties and see if the "search for floppy drives" window is unchecked or not.

-right click on "my computer" icon
-select properties
-select performance
-select file system
-select floppy disk
-uncheck window in settings

You may have a reference to a file on a floppy in your Recent folder.
The refrences in your Recent folder show up in Start|Documents.
In Windows Explo.. er, Explorer, go to the Windows\Recent folder. Right-click on each shortcut to check its Properties. If the path points to your floppy drive, delete the shortcut from the Recent folder.
