Tyan 1832 Motherboard
PIII 450
64MB Ram
2x AGP
amibios 1.16

Removed all the drivers for current cards, Shut down, Took old PCI cards out, Installed AGP 3D Prophet Card, Booted and no video would go to the screen...

Shut down, Put my PCI Matrox card back in booted into windows okay, No autodetect of 3D Prophet, Tried to find hew hardware and didnt see it that way either...

Found out there is a Bios Upgrade for my Bios with a ptch to help AGP. Will Flash it tonight.

Also My power supply (I just realized) is only 230w.

Any Suggestions ??

Thanks.

Go into the BIOS and change the designation for video card search to AGP from PCI. Hope this helps. You have to reboot w/ your PCI to get into the BIOS, change it, shutdown, then install the Prophet.
Good luck

I've always had to change the BIOS settings. I've never had one autodetect it. Maybe it was just an older BIOS I have been dealing with. Sorry if that was poor info.

Dave, the mobo should auto detect which slot the video card is in, whether its PCI or AGP.

Even if the bios is set @ PCI, the mobo would automatically detect an AGP card if one exists.

Any loose connections?
Take note that not all BX mobos work with the geforce card, don't know if yours is one of them though.

*Gulp* lets just hope that this is not what I think it is....

Umm what you mean "what you think it is" http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

It is a 440BX Chipset Motherboard. THere is a new bios update that I am going to get and try mine is really dated.

Funny thing is my ISA NIC card stopped working also after I put it in. Had PCI NIC laying around so that worked okay.

gonna take every card out that I have in it and just try the geforce and see. I will get a new Motherboard if I have to.
