I keep getting attempts to access port 119 on my computer every few hours from ops-scan.home.net (24.0.94.130).

I haven't install ZoneAlarm yet, guess I should do that.

Don't sweat it, it's @home scaning for open relays. That's part of the deal they made to avoid the USENET death penalty a month or so ago.

When I was running BID I would get that every once in a while.
As someone pointed out to me they may just be looking for ileagl servers that are running on cable modems.
As with anything question I have ever e-mailed to @home customer service I got no reply or explaination.

Yes,run ZA. I am running no firewall right now in 2000 because without it I am stealth.

Yeah I get them sometimes twice a day, they are either news transfer or ftp probes. Is there a write up anywhere on that Prospero?
I have the same luck with responses from @home as jad1097...none
Thanks

I rec'd a letter from @home that they are cracking down on acceptable use violators as they expand the network. Can't blame them for monitoring traffic, which determines how many routers they have to add to maintain performance. They are working on getting "prime-time" speeds up by the end of March.

Does that mean they are wacthing all the sites people are going to? Or they just looking for people who are running servers? Anyhow that is good news.
I have never read the policy, maybe I should do it today.

BTW~ How did you get them to mail you? I don't subscribe to any of their mail or even use their software. I just pay them every month.

I saw something about it in there security newsgroup. They also say some stuff in the announcemnent newsgroup. I have to get moving to a meeting, so I'll have to look them up later.
