I have a ASUS A7V133A mobo, and a 1200 AMD T-Bird overclocked to 1333MHZ's and I was just wondering is it normal to be at 50C-54C load.
My HSF is Swiftech MC370-0A.
system:
1200@1333 T-Bird
512 PC133 SDRAM
Voodoo5 5500 AGP
dual IBM 30gig 7200rpm ata100 HD's on RAID0

47'C at full load is a GOOD temperature--not a bad one at all.
If you're running case-closed at 50'C but opening the case drops your temp dramatically, it probably isn't your CPU--its your case cooling.

I think most proccessors have a limit to where they can rise. I say that just to be safe, AMD chips have to be lower than 60C. I have an AMD K6-2 (thunderbird on the way) and at full load it rises up to 53C. In everyday work apps.. it hovers from 41 to 46C.
But as everyone says: "The cooler the better."

Well, my amd tbird is running at about 50c. I'm told thats a little high but I havn't had a problem yet.

1200MHz Tbird 266fsb, not OC'd, running at 48*C at the moment; RC5 and a good load in the systray, with a couple of graphics apps open. Seems a little higher than I'd *like* it to be, but have no problems at this temp.
It's been warmer during the day in the room, so I'm sure the temp was higher, but I haven't had any problems. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I got AMD 1.33Ghz here got 43C which I dont think is too bad.
I got two case fans front & rear plus a slot fan (near middle of MB) anyone got
any further ideas to make the CPU run cooler?
Thanks

I have the same processor/mb combo and get approximately the same temperature readings from the ASUS temp reading as you in Bios, MBProbe or SiSandra... got curious about whether these readings were accurate so I got a temperature probe and made actual readings on the processor core :
MB 25C/77F
CPU 30.5C/86.9F
Ambient 21C/69.8F
I have a high output Sunon 80 mm input fan (lower front), 5800 RPM Delta HSF on a Volcano II, a slot cooler for my video card and a 5800 RPM Delta added as a case fan sucking air directly from the base of the heatsink (about 3" away).
Bios, MBProbe, Sisandra all show CPU temp to be +10 C from my temperature probe readings... I don't see how anyone can trust the ASUS A7V133A temperature probe readings without independent verification of those readings.
The real solution to this problem with readings is for AMD to include a temperature sensor in the processor core. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

rosado,
You can find them here: http://nerdsbyte.safeshopper.com/10/cat10.htm?533 look under cooling fans.
The Delta 60x25 mm 30 CFM fan is quieter than the fan that comes with the Volcano II and runs about 1000 prm faster... does a good job of cooling which is why I use one for an exhaust fan as well.
I put an aluminum mesh filter at the input of the 80 mm Sunon and it doesn't seem to make much difference temperature wise to my CPU temps with or without the filter, but it should keep dust out of my case.
The high-output 80 mm Sunon uses a 4-pin connector, so it has to be hooked up to an available PS connector instead of the MB, meaning you don't get any rpm readings, but for a case input fan who cares as long as you can feel it sucking in air?
I also got out my aluminum cutting tools and cut out all the case grillework in front of the input fan to get rid of any airflow restrictions in front of the new fan and likewise cut a clean hole for the 60 mm exhaust fan I put in and from the temperatures I now read, I seem to have very good airflow through my case http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

My T-bird is 800 mhz and it runs in the high 50's C that is... and I've tried to get the case fans and such, but haven't done so yet..

Can you offer more info on these fans or a web address etc.
Thanks
My T-bird 800 runs at 27 degrees I use a cooler master fan and heat sink my case also has a fan that suck air in and one that blows it out.

for you guys runign the T-birds on Asus Boards and checking the temps with Asus Probe asus probe adjusts the CPU temp +10/c
download Mother board moniter (MBM5) and run it or check temps in the bios for true cpu temps 50/c + t-bird temps on a Asus A7v133 aare normal with almost any heatsink fan combo as long as asus probe is showing under 60/c temps your fine http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

scotter, If you check an earlier post in this thread you'll see that the CPU temperature I get in the Bios, MBProbe and SiSandra are all reading the same... +10 C from the reading I get placing a temp probe directly on the CPU.
My observation is that the temperature sensor on the ASUS board is what's in error...I'm not using the ASUS Probe software that comes with the board at all.
BTW, I've used MBM 5 as well and come up with temperature readings identical with those in the Bios, MBProbe and SiSandra. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

thanks scotter, i was using the asus probe. I will try the Mother board moniter (MBM5). I thought that was a little high, cause I have two case fans, one in front and one in back of the case, one blowing the other sucking. Thanks guys for all your replies helped me get a better idea if mine was too hot. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Harold7 what version of asus probe arre you using ? most of the older virsions do not make the adjustment from around 2.12.05 on they add +10/c 2.12.04 and older ? do not
asus thermal probe on the mobo are not the best to begin with the voltage sencers dont work all the time correctly to http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
I take it all with a grain of sand and just try to keep my system running as cold as I can get it with out going broke doing it http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I have Abit KT7a-raid @ 133fsb T-Bird 1333 and constantly run 32c, I use Alpha PEP66t, very cool...no?
Think I found the best way to keep any cpu cooler just use what ever heatsink you have now and sand the bottom till is nice and smooth then use Brasso to polish the bottom till its a complete mirror. I used it on my volcano II with it at default on my p3 1 ghz at 1125 mhz 150 fsb. The temp was 29c idle and 38c full load.
After I sanded it nice and smooth and polished it with brasso to a complete mirror my temps were 24.1c at idle and 31.5 c with a full load. Im now doing this to all my friends machines as well huge differnce.

I got my AMD T-Bird 1200 at about 52*C and the case at 28*C. I have a Cool Master CPU fan w/ the heatsink and 2 case fans to blow the air in and out. How can I get the CPU lowered?
