I just called someone...they said they might be lookin for someone and that the manager will call me back sometime tonight..
Hows that to get your hopes up?
Hope this turns out, theres only 2 comp places around here that I can walk to, and the others not hiring.
Wish me luck peeps! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Thats great news AE!

Before long you'll be running the place, and so you'll find that luck has less to do with your future success than your obvious intellect and great personality!!!!!

Best wishes working for "da man"!!!!!!!!!!!

The lady said there was ONE opening, but she didnt say what field
If its programming im screwed http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
I tutor one hour a week, but its under the table (outta the clutchs of da man's man, Uncle Sam). One hour a week hardly paids the bills tho. lol

Thanks for the boost of confidence TonyM! I really appreciate it.

Its so nice doing something that you love to do rather than something just for the money. I'll bet you will work out just fine. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I think this is the same guy that fixed my first comp that charged me like $80 an hour, that first PO'ed me enought that I wanted to do my own comp work...My reverse-inspiration if you wanna call it that.

I dont even know if i should tell him im 17...he asked me to write a resume by email..man I suck at this stuff, why couldnt he just give me a Q&A session over the fone?
oh well...

Hey Edge : Good luck with you new job.. If it doesn't pan out, I have plenty of yard work and need some body work on my El Camino if you get around the neighborhood. All you can eat ( beans and franks) too. This could be your ace in the hole!!!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Good luck AuraEdge! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

You're very intelligent and personable, and you know alot about hardware especially, and the software end of things, if that's the job you should have no problem!

That's funny though, it's the same guy who once charged you!

Good Luck AuraEdge!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Man I remember my first job, the mighty $2.85/hr (Canadian!) at McD's of all places.
Too bad the only lesson I learned was that the more money you have, the more you spend. (usually on nothing it seems)

Said you'd be screwed if it involved programming...

I got some great HTML format programming tutorials. VB6, VC++, C, C++, Java, Javascript, CGI, Perl, etc.

I'm learning C++ now, since the Borland compiler was recently made freeware. It's actually beginning to make sense, and I can see how people can code for hours on end. I coded from 9am-1pm today at school. Stayed in there from the end of homeroom until the end of lunch.

Just drop me a line if you want them.

Yep! Its the guy..i asked dad cuz I had this bad feeling, and he said yep, thats him!

He specifically said benchwork..so I think Im okay

Its the shop BEHIND the Burger King http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif.
Ill probably grab it and then quit once I get some wheels.

I better get a good chunk of that $80/hour tho..lol

Im not in great favor of the manager..very cynical guy..know it all type (gee hope hes not a regular at this board).

Once I get some kinda hoopdie(sp?) or other, I'll cruise on down n work for u, Pickel...oh wait I dont eat franks..sorry bro, no can do. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Got my email sent to him with what I know and what I dont know...

Crossin my fingers, guys...

Great news AE! I'm sure it will work out well for you!

All you 14, 15 year olds, don't be so keen to rush into work! Have some fun while you can!!!
On the other hand, it can be quite easy to secure the odd little earner - if you have any programming skills - HTML, VB, etc - ask around relatives, parents friends, etc... My brother got about $700 when he was 16 for a Pascal database for a local firm, just a simple timetabling and scheduling app...
But don't go chasing money at the expense of your schooling, balance the two very carefully - that database was submitted as a school project http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Way to go AEdge...Don't know your circumstances but a little job to begin is usually a good thing. Mine was mowing the community center's yard. at around 2.50 an hour(jeez codybear how old are you?)it wasn't too bad. Now I make almost 20 dollars an hour and have had some offers of around 80k. Tell you a secret...Databases...Administration, not grunt work and you will be a very wealthy and well adjusted young fiend! But someone else was right, the more you make the more you spend. I went from minimum wage to good money in about 6 months... No degree in CS, just studied every night on my own for about 6 months, took a few tests and bingo! Good start. You can go as far as you want in this field,,dependant on drive of course. Have fun and remember a little experience and they will be knocking down your door. Bill
