A friend gave me a SCSI hard drive he doesn't want and I am going to put it in but I'm still kind of new to scsi so there are a couple of questions I have about the jumper setting you can set. What do the follow ing do:
1. SP Sync
2. AC Low
3. Spin up
4. +5V DC
And under termination you can either Enable it or set it to "Power" when would you use power?
If anyone knows any web sites where I can read about these options let me know that too, I haven't been able to find any.
Thanks

Well if you could give us the Make and Model of the drive I'm sure we can help http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

That kind of helps byt not really. It tells what each of the jumpers does, but doesn't tell what enabling it does. Like it does tell what enabling Spindle Sync does, or what enabling AC low does, or enabling the Spin Delay does. It doesn't tell what the differencr between driver or termination power is and what one I might want to use. These are the things I'm trying to figure out, but thanks so far.

Well truth full with out surfing AND READING Quantums website I couldnt tell you about the AC or SP sync but as for the "SpinUp delay this is for a system that has MULTIPLE scsi drives in it and a "weak" powersupply. as a scsi drive sucks alot of power when spinning up to speed and many powersupplys can't supply enough power stabably so you have one spin up normally and then have the other spin up after a delay (because as the 1 drive has already reached speed their is more power avaliable to start up the second drive). and the 5dc will depend on the type of scsi card you have as you need to know weither or not it supplies the termination power or if you need the drive to supply it. For the rest of the questions it would truly depend on your configuration and parts.
